Orange, San Diego and Riverside counties meet at the Santa Rosa Plateau.
La Cresta is located on the Santa Rosa Plateau. Most people refer to the plateau
as 'La Cresta', eventhough other communities on Santa Rosa Plateau include La Cresta Highlands, Santa Rosa West,
Santa Rosa Trails, Meadow Oaks, Tenaja, Avocado Mesa and Redondo Mesa.
Some of the communities are Property Owners Associations (POAs).
Some are County Service Districts (CSDs).
And all communities are in an unincorporated area of the city of Murrieta CA and have a
Murrieta, County of
Riverside address. Residential zoning requires parcels
to be at least 5-gross-acres. In addition, there is no commercial zoning.
Residents feel miles away from bustling city life. In actuality, they are not far from many other fabulous
places to visit. Nearby you'll find the famous vernal pools or the DeLuz area of Temecula.
Five minutes to the east on Clinton Keith is Bear Creek, a gated community that boasts a Jack Nicholas golf course and private golf & tennis club.
Surrounding
the home owner communities on the Plateau are the California Ecological Reserve and the Cleveland
National Forest.
Amenities include several large shopping centers, large movie complexes, two fully equipped hospitals,
three large grocery stores and the quaint, recently-renovated Old Town Murrieta.
Ontario International Airport is less than one hour away. Within an easy 1.5 hour drive are: Palm Springs, Big Bear/Arrowhead, Los Angeles, San Diego, Orange County, endless beaches, the artsy communities of Julian and Idylwild, and countless other attractions.
Most of the Santa Rosa Plateau is 1800 - 2700 feet above sea level and within 20 miles of the
Pacific Ocean. The climate is temperate and is almost always 8-10
degrees cooler in the summer than that of the Temecula Valley. Throughout the summer,
La Cresta's proximity to the ocean provides cool ocean breezes and relief from the sun.
On clear days La Cresta residents
enjoy views of Mount San Jacinto, Mount Gorgonio, Mount Palomar, the Santa Ana Mountains,
Temecula Valley's distant city lights, Lake Skinner, Diamond Lake and beyond. Some even
have Pacific Ocean views!
The Santa Rosa Plateau offers many recreational activities. You'll enjoy the many
hiking trails, hand gliding and fantastic views.
There are many golf courses to choose from such as the private Bear Creek, to the public Cross Creek,
which is hidden in the oaks and avocado orchards of DeLuz, among many others. Hiking,
biking, horseback riding, mountain biking, golfing, gardening, ranching, farming, motorcycling,
off-roading, flying, are all a part of this adventurous lifestyle.
The wildlife you can expect to see on the Plateau is plentiful. Recent reports include: California
Golden Eagles, Great Owls, several varieties of hawks, fox, mule deer, mountain lions, raccoons,
coyotes, snakes and lots of other critters. Most are harmless unless provoked. All are gifts of
nature for Plateau residents to enjoy. When you hear your first coyote songs from your patio
at dusk, you will know what we mean!
